A little bit about us...

Southwest Louisiana Veterinary Clinic, AVMC was established in September 1977 under the name of Rhodes Veterinary Hospital, Inc., owned by Dr. Glen Rhodes for twenty years until his retirement in 1997. The office then became the ownership of the current veterinarians.

In 2004, the owners purchased the building that had been leased and changed the name of the office to Southwest Louisiana Veterinary Clinic, AVMC. Since that time, the existing building has been remodeled and state-of-the-art veterinarian technology has been added to insure the finest pet healthcare in the area.

Southwest Louisiana Veterinary Clinic, AVMC is a mixed animal practice. Small, large, even exotic animals are all welcome. Nutritional counseling, sound basic preventative medicine and warm, compassionate service helps us to reach our goal of providing quality care for your pet.

Our patients experience safe and precise treatment provided by our ultrasound instruments, electrocardiograph, surgical tools and microchip identification for canines. We provide our own laboratory diagnostic services, while maintaining strong relationships with referral institutions for more specialized needs.

We also offer compounding and flavoring of medications.

Our vast boarding service has opened the door for the need to expand our kennel space, a plan that will be put into motion in the near future.

Our practice services the needs of the 4-H and FFA animals from health papers, dehorning goats, testing pigs for pseudo rabies and more. Farm calls are done by appointment to meet your needs.

Our goal at Southwest Louisiana Veterinary Clinic is to provide the very best in quality pet healthcare, in a reliable, affordable and caring atmosphere.

Timely appointments are given to guarantee the best service available. Of course, we always welcome walk-in patients, and we stand ready to service any pet emergency. Come visit either of our convenient locations at 128 W. Napoleon Street in Sulphur or at 204 Velmer Street in DeQuincy.
