OUR VETERINARIANS

Dr. Brent MacLeod

Dr. Brent MacLeod received his DVM from the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Saskatchewan in 1979. Following graduation he worked in a mixed animal practice in Consort, Alberta. In 1981 he moved to Edson, Alberta and became a partner in a four vet mixed animal practice. Along with his partners he owned and operated the EdsonVeterinary Clinic for 21 years where he treated everything from lizards to elk. He was also involved in the Alberta Government’s Rocky Mountain Sheep Relocation program. In 2002, Dr. MacLeod and his family moved to High River and although he continued to work as a veterinarian, he joined his family’s ranching operation. In 2007 Dr. MacLeod bought the High River Veterinary Clinic and continues to enjoy practicing small animal veterinarymedicine. Dr. MacLeod and his wife, Debbie-Layne have two children, Kelsey and Scott who are both attending the University of Alberta.

Dr.Christine Hughton

Dr. Christine Hughton received her DVM from the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Saskatchewan in 1990. After graduation she moved to Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan where she practiced and eventually purchased a mixed animal practice. In 1997 she limited her practice to small animals allowing her to concentrate on small animal medicine and surgery. Dr. Hughton and her family moved to High River in 2000. She has practiced in the Foothills area and Calgary during this time. She and her family have a variety of pets including a dog, two cats, a rabbit and a cockatiel.

 

Our Team

Stacey

Stacey graduated from the Animal Health Technology Program at Olds College in 2004. After graduating she moved to Stathmore where she worked in a small animal practice for five years. Stacey joined our team in August 2009 and brought with her years of experience in small animal nursing care, laboratory skills and knowledge in animal nutrition. She lives with her family in the Blackie area along with their dog, Hunter and cat, Dusty.

 

 

Christen

Christen is a registered Animal Health Technologist. She went to school at the Saskatchewan Institution of Applied Science and Technology and graduated in 2007 with her Veterinary Technologist Diploma. She worked in Brandon, Manitoba as an AHT for a year before she married her husband in the summer of 2008 and moved to High River. Since moving to High River, Christen has worked at High River Veterinary Clinic. Christen and her husband Ryan are now proud parents of a beautiful boy, whom Christen spends most of her time with. They own a golden retriever cross, and plan to expand their family further in the future.

 

Kim

Kim is an assistant at the High River Veterinary Clinic. She has been working in animal health for years and really enjoys her work. Kim is a barrel racer, is married to Heath and has two beautiful daughters.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Chanda

Chanda is a long time area resident and is one of the friendly faces you will see at our reception desk. Chanda joined our team in 2007, and prior to that worked as a groomer and professional pet sitter for numerous years. Chanda brings warmth, humour and empathy to our office , to our clients and to our patients.

 

 

 

 

Mallory

Mallory recently graduated from Williams College in Williamstown, MA with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology. She plans on attending either the University of Saskatchewan or the University of Calgary to obtain her DVM. Mallory has a golden retriever named Elsa and four farm cats. She played four years of NCAA Division III hockey at Williams College and is now the assistant coach for the Highwood Raiders Female AAA hockey team.
