We have eight Veterinarians on our staff to provide complete services for your pets.

Dr. Jenny Ashton

Dr. Jenny Ashton is a 1994 graduate of the University of Minnesota, College of Veterinary Medicine. In addition to dogs and cats, she enjoys working with birds. She has a growing interest in complimentary medicine, including Healing Touch and chiropractic. She is married and has three children.

Dr. Justin Bergeron

Dr. Justin Bergeron is a 2007 Graduate of the University of Glasgow, Scotland. After graduation he worked for a short time at the Moose Lake Veterinary Clinic as a mixed animal practitioner. He started with the St Michael Veterinary Clinic in the beginning of 2009. He enjoys all aspects of companion animal medicine, but has a strong interest in surgery and dentistry. Dr. Justin grew up in Andover where his family ran a boarding and gun dog training facility. Outside of work his time is devoted to keeping up with his two daughters, wife, and the old dog Patch. He also enjoys gardening, hunting, fishing, and his afternoon swims.

Dr. Shawn Dutton

Dr. Shawn Dutton is a 1987 graduate of the University of Minnesota, College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Dutton joined our practice in 1987 when he and his wife Jan moved to St. Michael. For the past 23 years they have enjoyed raising their family of 2 sons and a daughter, along with their three dogs. He is a co-owner of both the St. Michael Veterinary Clinic and the Big Lake Area Veterinary Hospital. He enjoys offering both surgical and medical services to our clients. In his leisure time Dr. Dutton enjoys youth sports, running, instructing firearm safety, fishing, and hunting with his dogs.

Dr. Nicole Grabowski

Dr. Nicole Grabowski finished her undergraduate degree in Animal Science and received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from The University of Minnesota, College of Veterinary Medicine in 2007. Upon graduation she joined the staff at Big Lake Area Veterinary Hospital and St. Michael Veterinary Clinic and has been here ever since. She finds one of the most rewarding aspects of the career to be the relationships that are built between the clients, pet-owners and staff. She primarily works on dogs and cats. Outside of work, she enjoys running, hiking, reading and spending time with her husband, her young son and her dog and cat.

Dr. Kristi McAlpin

Dr. Kristi McAlpin is a 2000 graduate of the University of MN, College of Veterinary Medicine. She joined the staff at St. Michael Veterinary Clinic after graduation and is currently a co-owner and practices between the St. Michael Veterinary Clinic and Big Lake Area Veterinary Hospital. She enjoys being an animal doctor and working with both the clients and their pets. Outside of the clinic she takes care of her family, her husband, 6 daughters, 2 dogs, 2 cats, 2 guinea pigs and a bird. Some of her favorite activities outside of the clinics are gardening, reading, photography and spending quality time with her whole family.

Dr. Kristine Reid

Dr. Kristine Reid completed her undergraduate degree in Science and Agriculture in 1997 and her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 2002, both from the University of Minnesota. After graduation, she joined the staff at St. Michael Veterinary Clinic and in 2007 also began working in their Big Lake Area Veterinary Hospital affiliate. She enjoys working in a practice that treats cats and dogs and also the occasional small rodent, ferret and hedgehog. When not working, she could be found gardening, camping with her family and two dogs Bandit and Kenzie, or riding her Harley with her husband Michael.

Dr. Lisa Sell

Dr. Lisa Sell has practiced at the St. Michael Veterinary Clinic for over 18 years, since her graduation from the University of Minnesota, College of Veterinary Medicine in 1991. She very much enjoys the long-term relationships that she has established with clients, and the satisfaction that comes from providing care from a pet's first exam through the end of its life. Her special practice interests are preventive health care, internal medicine, and geriatric medicine. She and her husband live on a farm with their three children, who are active in 4-H with their sheep and rabbits.

Dr. Dominic Tauer

Dr. Dominic Tauer grew up in southwestern Minnesota and graduated from South Dakota State University with a degree in Biology in 2004. He then attended the University of Minnesota, College of Veterinary Medicine for his doctorate and graduated in 2008. Since graduation Dr. Tauer has been part of the St. Michael Veterinary Clinic staff and has been enjoying every minute of it. He currently lives in Fridley with his cat Starbuck and enjoys books, travel, and board games with good friends.

We employ only Certified Veterinary Technicians, providing client education, nursing care, monitoring anesthesia, and assisting doctors.
