About Us
Starting from scratch in 1984, Ronnie Letcher opened “Letcher & Associates” in Artesia, NM, a small Southeastern New Mexico town of about 12,000 people at the time. In 1987 Rob Golden joined on and “Letcher, Golden & Associates, Inc.” was born. Because of our humble beginnings we know about the trials and tribulations of starting, owning, and operating a business. We have grown to a respectable size insurance agency employing 14 full time individuals including a branch office in Lovington, NM with plans to expand even further.
We have grown out of dedicated service and commitment to our customers, our employees, and the insurance carriers we represent. We are still a small town agency with “big city” capabilities serving the entire state of New Mexico and West Texas. With us it’s all about relationships. We still answer the phone, we still visit our customers, and we still get involved with the folks that we work with. We believe in supporting the industries that support us. We belong to numerous trade organizations including the New Mexico Homebuilders Association, New Mexico Cattle Growers Association, New Mexico Wool Growers Association, Association of Energy Service Contractors, Independent Insurance Agents of NM, and numerous other groups. In 1987, Ronnie helped organize and start Builders Trust of New Mexico, a group self insured workers compensation company, for the members of the New Mexico Homebuilders Association. He and the Agency still serve as the marketing general agent for this very successful work comp. program insuring about 2000 contractors in the state. We try to walk the walk and talk the talk with all those we do business with, and in order to do that we have to get involved.
Our staff consists of some of the best insurance professionals in the state. All of our Producers and Customer Service Representativesare licensed and have obtained or are working on obtaining numerous professional designations such as C.I.C. (Certified Insurance Counselor) or C.I.S.R. (Certified Insurance Service Representative). Our employees make us who we are. We recently brought two of our sons into the business, Ryan Letcher and Rory Golden. Ryan has a Civil Engineering degree from Texas Tech and is also a New Mexico Military Institute graduate. Rory is an Eastern New Mexico University graduate with degrees in Business Administration and Marketing.
