Veneers/Laminates:
Veneers/Laminates are either fabricated from lab processed porcelain or chair side bonded resin (plastic). These restorations cover the front and sides of the teeth. Most often the lab processed porcelain veneers are used to obtain optimum color, and esthetics. Veneers can totally transform a patient's smile and appearance.

Teeth Whitening:
All teeth whitening products basically use some form of peroxide to facilitate the whitening of the teeth. We, at Brookdale Dental Group, have been engaged in teeth whitening for over 15 years. We employ two teeth whitening systems at our office. Same day one visit whitening, which depending on the color of the teeth can lighten them six to eight shades in a one hour visit. With this same day bleach system the patient is given custom made touch up trays and material to keep the teeth white and bright. We also offer a home whitening system. The patient wears custom made trays with the whitening solution for one half hour twice a day; it takes approximately two weeks to achieve the final result. Both systems achieve long lasting results with minimal follow up. Generally yellow to brown colored teeth will whiten faster than blue-gray shaded teeth. Tetracycline stained teeth will lighten but can take up to a year depending on the severity of the staining.

Cosmetic Bonding:
These procedures are used to straighten, close spaces, recontour, or change the color of the teeth. Most times these procedures are minimally invasive and the results are obtained in one visit.

Crowns:
Crowns or caps are fabricated of all porcelain, porcelain fused to a gold substructure, or all gold. Crowns enhance cosmetics by restoring color, shape and contour of the teeth. Crowns also restore function and strength to badly worn, overfilled or broken teeth.

Bridgework:
Bridgework is performed to replace one or more missing teeth. The teeth on either side of the toothless space are crowned and the bridge is cemented into place. This allows for greater functionality and increased esthetics.

Implants:
Implants can be used to replace one or more missing teeth. They are surgically placed in the jawbone, and post healing, the restoration is fabricated. Implants can also be used to enhance the retention of full or partial dentures, and under proper circumstances, render them unnecessary.

Tooth Colored Restorations:
Tooth colored restorations or tooth colored fillings are used almost exclusively at Brookdale Dental Group. Tooth colored fillings are durable, add strength to the existing tooth, and offer superior esthetics when compared to silver fillings.

General Services

Periodontal Treatment:
Do your gums bleed when you eat or brush? They always do you say? Well, when you wash your hands do they bleed? Bleeding is a sign that our gums are not as healthy as they should be. Bacteria (germs) can fester between the teeth and gums, if this bacteria is not removed by brushing and flossing properly, and routine visits to the dental hygienist, this bacterial invasion can progress leading to bone loss (periodontal disease), and tooth loosening or loss. Studies show that uncontrolled periodontal disease is linked to a significant increase in the risk for heart disease, stroke, and Alzheimer's Disease.

Root Canal Therapy:
Root canal therapy is necessary when the nerve of a tooth dies as a result of trauma or disease. The nerve of the tooth has little to no capacity to heal itself, therefore the non vital (dead) nerve of the tooth is removed and the nerve canals sealed over a series of visits. Once the root canal is completed, the tooth needs to be restored with a post/core buildup and a crown.

Sealants:
Sealants are placed on the permanent molars of children upon their eruption into the mouth. The sealant is a resin (plastic) material that when bonded into place fills in all the grooves and wrinkles on the biting surface of the tooth. Sealants prevent the start of decay on the biting surface of the tooth, a place where toothbrush bristles cannot clean, due to small size of the grooves. If for any reason a sealant should come off after we have placed it, that sealant will be replaced free of charge up to the age of sixteen. Of course the placement of sealants does not preclude good oral hygiene and regular recare appointments.

Bruxing/Clenching Appliance:
Bruxing (night-time grinding and or clenching) can wreak havoc on the teeth and supporting structures. It can cause any combination of premature tooth wear, muscle soreness, headache, dizziness, or pain. Bruxing is a habit often exacerbated by stress. The bruxing appliance when worn can alleviate the aforementioned symptoms and protect the teeth and supporting structures.

Custom Athletic Guards:
Most injuries in children occur during sports; soccer, baseball, basketball, football, skateboarding etc. Store bought guards don't offer the custom fit and choice of colors a professionally made guard offers. With the greater fit and choice of colors comes greater compliance by the child, therefore greater protection of the teeth.

Snoring Appliance:
This is an appliance that is custom fabricated for each individual patient. The appliance repositions the jaw and facilitates proper exchange of air during sleep. The snore guard can be as effective in reducing apnea episodes, and snoring as surgery, without the invasiveness.
